Make an Impact for Years to Come

Join our TikTok campaign to share what you love about respiratory therapy.
You might even win a prize!

Show the World Why You #ChooseRT

To inspire the next generation of respiratory therapists into the field, we’re hosting a contest for you to help us reach them where they are — on TikTok!

Making a TikTok video is fast and easy, and you could win one of three valuable prizes. Here’s how the contest works:

Create a video on your personal TikTok profile (it’s free to start an account if you don’t already have one). Your video can be whatever you want it to be, as long as it is “family friendly” (no profanity or adult content), does not divulge any patient identities or information, and aims to help others see the value of working in respiratory therapy.

Before publishing your video, be sure to include #ChooseRT and #MoreRTs. Then, once published, come back to this webpage and complete the form at the bottom to enter for your chance to win! And, the more videos you enter, the more chances you have to earn a prize – so you can submit the form again for every new video you make that promotes respiratory care.

Looking for some inspiration? Check out the sample video on this page – it shows an RT student’s first intubation, and it’s a great example of the type of positive energy we love to see.

This contest will close on October 16, 2022, and winners will be selected on October 26. We will announce all three winners publicly in November. Click here for official contest rules.

How to Make a TikTok Video

  1. Create or log in to your personal TikTok account.
  2. If you wish to include music in your video, search for the audio you’d like to use (do not upload copywritten or profane material). Click on the song next to the music icon to open the template, then select “Use this sound” at the bottom of the screen. Note: the use of available explicit (profane) lyrics may result in disqualification.
  3. Record your video.
  4. When you have the recorded version you like, select the red check mark to continue.
  5. Use the “Text” button at the bottom to add your text bubbles to the video. To adjust the timing of the text, click on the text bubble you’ve created, select “Edit” and drag the clip to the chosen length.
  6. Create a caption to include the following:
    • Hashtags: Use #ChooseRT and #MoreRTs
    • Disclaimer (use this language): This video content is solely my own and does not necessarily represent the views and perspectives of my employer.
  7. Once the video is complete, click “Next” to publish it.

As always, patient privacy is extremely important. Please protect patient information appropriately and follow all privacy and social media policies required by your institution. The NBRC is not responsible for your content or its adherence to your institution’s rules and guidelines.
