To inspire the next generation of respiratory therapists into the field, we’re hosting a contest for you to help us reach them where they are — on TikTok!

Making a TikTok video is fast and easy, and you could win one of 10 prizes. Here’s how the contest works:

Create a video on your personal TikTok profile (it’s free to start an account if you don’t already have one). Your video should include the top questions you get asked as an RT or questions you think are important to answer for future RTs coming into the profession. We’re looking for inspiring content to help grow our profession for future RTs. Your video must be “family friendly” (no profanity or adult content) and should not divulge any patient identities or information and aim to help others see the value of working in respiratory therapy.

Before publishing your video, be sure to include #AskMeAboutRT, #ChooseRT and #MoreRTs. Then, come back to this webpage and complete the form at the bottom to enter for your chance to win! And, the more videos you enter, the better your chances of winning a prize – so you can submit the form again for every new video you make that promotes respiratory care.

How to Make a TikTok Video

  1. Create or log in to your personal TikTok account.
  2. If you wish to include music in your video, search for the audio you’d like to use (avoid the use of copywritten or profane material). Click on the song next to the music icon to open the template, then select “Use this sound” at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Record your video.
  4. When you have the recorded version you like, select the red check mark to continue.
  5. Use the “Text” button at the bottom to add your text bubbles to the video. To adjust the timing of the text, click on the text bubble you’ve created, select “Edit” and drag the clip to the chosen length.
  6. Include the hashtags #AskMeAboutRT, #ChooseRT and #MoreRTs.
  7. Once the video is complete, click “Next” to publish it.
